Well I think I'm going to bite the bullet and invest in a Lipo charger and some batteries. I have a pretty good idea of the batteries I want for onroad but have no idea what charger to buy.

I'll need something that I can plug right into my wall as I don't have a car or power supply.

Also, what would be a good battery for 1/10 scale 4WD offroad.

Cheers Joe

The best charger to get is the Duratrax Onyx 230. Many of us use them. (myself included) I think it is about $120/$130.
The battery I like to use in my offroad cars is SMC's 5200 mah 24c stick packs. I can't remember how much it was, but it was a decent price too.

I was in the same boat as you. I bought a Duratrax ICE and liked it.. However it needed a power supply. I did some research and found this unit AC6. I am sure if you do some research you will see how easy it is to use. Its loaded with features. THE BEST PART i like about this charger. You can use a AC source or DC power source. It also comes with software so you can link your pc upto the charger and get info on the battery. It comes with a 120v wall lead and a set for clamping of the old car battery. It will only charge to a max of 5 amps. If your interested I have two charges for sale. A duratrax ICE and Power Astro power supply (The ice has a upgraded LCD back light) and may my other new in the box AC6. I bought 2 thinking I will use them both, however Ineve did.

Getting away from my personal sales pitch. I like the AC6. The Ice has a lot of other goodies like motor breaking charging at higher amps. I found the AC6 the best bang for your buck. If you youtube there are videos on how this works and the key features.

I was on the fence between the Oynx and the AC6. The reason I chose the AC6 was the dual input source. Second was price. As Duratrax chargers are top. Either way you wont go wrong.
